Israel in the Wilderness

Unlike the nature of a typical sojourn in the wilderness, God led the children of Israel there in extreme comfort, like princes, with no worries and no pain.

When a flesh-and-blood king goes out to the wilderness, would he typically find tranquility there like he would in his palace? Would he find comparable food and drink? You were slaves in Egypt and I took you out of there, and I lay you on cushioned divans, as it is stated: “God led the people circuitously [(Tanĥuma, Bemidbar)
