He Has Made His Wonders a Lasting Memory

When the promised blessing will be completely fulfilled, the plants will produce fruit rapidly, as it was at the time of Creation.

“The land will yield its produce” (Leviticus 26:4). Not in the manner that it does now, but rather in the manner that it did in the days of Adam the first man.… The verse teaches that on the same day that the plants were sown, they yielded produce. “The tree of the field will yield its fruit” (26:4). Not in the manner that it does now, but rather in the manner that it did in the days of Adam the first man.… The verse teaches that on the same day that a tree was planted, it yielded fruit. From where is it known that the tree, too, is destined to be edible? As it is stated: “A fruit tree bearing fruit” (Genesis 1:11). If the verse means to teach that the tree will yield fruits, it already says “bearing fruit.” If so, why does it say “a fruit tree”? The verse teaches that just as the fruit is edible, the tree, too, is destined to be edible. From where is it known that even non-fruit-bearing trees are destined to bear fruit? The verse states: “The tree of the field will yield its fruit” (Leviticus 26:4). (Yalkut Shimoni, Behukotai 1:672)
